Kenya’s Conservation Funding Strengthens Opportunities for Sustainable Tourism

The US$160 million Thamani Asili programme announced on 21 October is intended to protect 173,000 square kilometres of biodiversity-rich landscapes, including areas around Tsavo and the Maasai Mara ecosystem. The initiative may support conservation-linked livelihoods and sustainable tourism, although no separate hotel or tourism-services contract value was announced. Hotels, tour operators and destination-marketing businesses can explore visitor services and responsible-tourism opportunities, while HPC can support visitor-demand analysis, digital planning and business-performance reporting.
